This is a 6-piece Nativity Crèche from the Berbers of Algeria, 4 men (Joseph and the 3 shepherds), Virgin Mary holding a baby (Jesus) and a Berber rug. First type set ever selling on the Internet and anywhere in the world made by the same artist.
Never realised before by any other artist.
This is the first time ever that an Algerian Berber nativity set/Creche was hand designed, hand moulded and hand painted by a known Algerian Berber artist. She has devoted most of her life sculpting her Algerian Berber ancestors such as Mouloud Mammeri, Massinissa, Jugurtha, Mouloud Feraoun, Si moh u mhend, Lala Fatma N Soumer and so on using Algerian Clay, then moulding it in using Plaster, concrete, stone, resin, etc. This set is made with Plaster to reduce the weight in the shipping and in the handling. The Rug is not plaster but a more flexible material that can be made out of straw, fabric, rug, etc.
All dressed up in ancient Algerian Berber clothes using paint, all sitting or standing on a Berber Rug from North Africa. The dress of the woman is called Takesiwt and wearing Amendil on her head and the capes of the men are called Avernus and wearing tacacit on their heads. A purely Algerian Berber culture whose religion is 95% Muslim with a very small Christian population.
This set is extremely unique, we guarantee that no one in the world has got it identical as everything is handmade and hand painted from scratch. This is real piece of art and extremely unique.
The pictures you see here are just samples made for some customers in the past; and you will get a set that is similar to them but not exactly the same. Let the artist surprise you with her finest art of moulding and the uniqueness of the pieces. Very detailed pieces knowing they were all made with clay to start off.
The size of the standing men is around 18cm high and the sitting ones are around 12cm high.
Ask any questions you want and we will happily answer them all one by one on the same day if possible.
The price you pay is for the artwork done by the artist, nothing is done with a machine, this is not a mass produced product.
The set will be shipped directly from Algeria, therefore please allow around 30 days to receive it. Please be patient, and do not pressure the artist. Patience makes great results. The set will be made from scratch.
Please note also that if you are interested in more figures, we can organise that, please let us know.

I bought a hat and ceramic ashtray. I was very happy with the prices for handmade quality and style. I think it is a fabulous idea to sell handicrafts from Algeria and North Africa.
