Travail du cuir
Le travail du cuir représente un art dans la culture Berbère de l'Afrique du Nord, pour les Touaregs en particulier. Les animaux sont élevés pour la nourriture, des vêtements, des sacs, des selles, des sacs d'eau, tapis, chaussures, portefeuilles et de nombreux autres articles utilisés dans leur vie quotidienne. Tout est fait à la main. Parfois, vous remarquez certaines imperfections avec les produits, c'est parce qu’ils n’utilisent pas de machines. Parfois, les produits sont légèrement différents de ce que vous voyez sur les photos, et cela est dù à la même raison. Veuillez nous contacter si vous n'êtes pas d'accord avec cela.
Le cuir pour sa souplesse et sa résistance est utilisé en Algérie pour la confection d'une multitude d'objet (selles de cavaliers, babouches, poufs, sac, etc...). Les centres les plus actifs sont les hauts plateaux, le Hoggar et le Mzab. Les grandes villes comme Tlemcen, Constantine ont conservé le savoir faire de tannerie artisanal (debbaghines), mais actuellement ce savoir faire se perd face à la concurrence des cuirs traités en Europe.
L'artisanat des touaregs en ce domaine présente des originalités comme le taghallabt ; un objet en forme de porte feuille ou aghreg le sac de voyage, le cuir de la région provient des chèvres ou des dromadaires. Il est coloré d'oxyde de cuivre lui donnant des teintes vertes et orné de symboles inspirés de l'alphabet tifinagh.
En Kabylie les peaux de mouton et de chèvre sont aussi transformées parfois pour faire des outres et des sacs de voyage sans décoration.Actuellement le secteur du cuir algérien est en pleine crise et nécessite une réhabilitation face à la mondialisation et une concurrence sévère (Inspiration de Wikipedia.org)

My order was shipped promptly and I was happy with the quality of it, however I don't feel the packaging was adequate for an overseas / airmail package. I always felt confident that this business offered a personal service and that I could contact Mr.Hacene should I require any help. Improvements I would like to suggest are: - that more specific measurements are added to items, so customers can know exactly what to expect as this makes the shopping process easier - that overseas shipments are packaged more securely / adequately to prevent damage to items - that more stock such as women's jewellery items from the Chaoui region could be added. In conclusion I would like express great happiness in finding an English language business that offers North African products such as those from Kabylia. Overall your web site is really interesting. I found the products you offer intriguing and your range is a variety of georgous things that any one would love to have. It is becoming a rare thing these days to be able to have handmade products in your home and as jewellery for that matter. Uniqueness usually comes at a high price but I am surprised to learn that your prices are very affordable. The only suggestions I could make are merely minor details and probably not so important such as the percentage figures on the sale discounts are rather small and don't really stand out, you might want to try enlarging those to be more visible to the naked eye. Other than that the site offers history, knowledge and basically good product.. so congratulations!

Hacene, thank you for your notification, I shall look forward to receiving the Sand Roses. And it is exciting to think my belts are being handmade especially for me in Algeria - it is obviously a fascinating country. I'm too old to travel now, but love learning about places I have never seen. The photos (modern and old) are fascinating. I run a very tiny gift shop in a very tiny place (Lemon Tree Passage). The shop is part of the waterside unit my husband Ray and I live in. Not to make a profit, but to keep me occupied and interested as he is an invalid now. The community is getting familiar with the fact that The Little Gift Shoppe always has something unusual. Not that you need to know all that, but I had to compliment you on your web site. I don't know who has created it for you, or if indeed you have put it together yourself, but whichever applies, it is one of the best sites, both from content and composition that I have visited.
